What We Do
The 1A Oregon Basketball Coaches Association is a non-profit organization that organizes and puts on the annual 1A Senior All-Star Series and organizes for 1A Senior players and coordinates the voting for the Boys and Girls 1A All-State teams.
Each year the Senior All-Star Series is played at Sisters High School in Sisters, Oregon. Teams are made up of players from the Valley Ten, Casco, Mt. West, Skyline, Mt. Valley, Big Sky, High Desert and Old Oregon Leagues.
Senior players are chosen from their respective league’s All-Star team as voted on by coaches according to their league rules. Invitations are sent to the players’ coach or to the school Athletic Director if we do not have contact information for the head coach.
The focus of the Series is the players. While the competition is often fierce, the games are played with a spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and respect for the players, coaches, officials, and fans of the game. The Series is an opportunity for players to don their high school team colors one more time and play in front of family, friends, and fans of 1A basketball.
The 1A OBCA also organizes the voting and publishes the 1A All-State Awards for boys and girls. The 1A All-State Awards are voted on each year by the coaches of the teams who qualify for the state tournament. The 1A All-State candidates are the Player of the Year and the First Team players as selected by the coaches from the various leagues according to their league rules. Players selected for the 1A All-State Awards are invited to a ceremony honoring them on Saturday at the Senior All-Star Series.
